The energy sector is still the place to be in 2026, with West Texas Intermediate trading hands at almost $98 per barrel. That puts the price of WTIC up approximately 70% in 2026 and 66% on an annual basis.

Not to be outdone, Brent Crude, which is the global benchmark, is trading at $106 per barrel, putting it up 74% year over year and 70% on an annual basis. This isn’t entirely surprising, a war in Iran and instability in the Middle East will do that.

And despite claims of progress out of Washington, D.C., it doesn’t appear as though there will be a truce any time soon. While we don’t really know what this uncertainty will do to oil prices longer term, what we do know, is that the war in the Middle East further illustrates the need to source crude oil from both domestic and reliable, safe international players.

One small cap, high dividend yielding oil & gas exploration and production (E&P) stock that energy bulls should put on their radar is InPlay Oil Corp. (OTCQX:IPOOF).
